Missouri City PERC Personally Invites You and Your Family to the Annual Free Chili Dinner and Student Recognition Awards Presentation on October 26th at 6pm at the Missouri City School.

Missouri City, PERC - Parents and Educators for Responsible Choices team was formed in 1991.  PERC became a Community 2000 team in 1993 and many of the current members were founding members. 

PERC members include key community leaders representing the community wheel (available in the community) and most core members (over 60%) have supported the Community 2000 team since it was formed. PERC’s strategies make every effort to include the entire area population and frequently draw well over 20% of the entire population to their programs.      

The team has enjoyed numerous accomplishments over the past thirteen years.  After providing community education on methamphetamine and the “red flags” of a meth lab operating in the community, team members identified and reported two active meth labs and were successful in having them closed down.  They have hosted numerous alcohol, tobacco and other drug community education programs and have provided youth and community members with an array of safe and drug free activities. 

In 2003, PERC began to focus on building Developmental Assets.  Their primary goal is to encourage parental involvement, both in the lives of their kids (through school involvement and by participating in team activities).  Parenting skills are offered and parents are encouraged to enforce the Character Education values initiated through the school and community
